Black Bag had me locked in from the very first minute. It’s a sharp, fast-paced mystery that knows exactly what it’s doing and pulls it off in just 90 minutes. That deserves praise, especially when so many modern spy thrillers feel like they’re trying too hard.
Steven Soderbergh cuts through all the nonsense and delivers a tight, stylish spy vs spy (vs spy) story that’s actually fun to follow. No bloated run time, no filler scenes, and best of all, none of that up its own ass kind of storytelling that tries to be deep with twist after twist until it forgets to be entertaining.
The characters are slick, the pacing is perfect, and the story always keeps you guessing without making you feel lost. It’s proof that you don’t need to overcomplicate things to keep people hooked.
Solid, smart, and super watchable. Black Bag is exactly what I want from this kind of movie.
