This movie is like if a Looney Tunes cartoon collided with a demolition derby and someone yelled “ACTION!” halfway through.
The slapstick is gloriously dumb in all the right ways. Phones get karate-chopped, cars go airborne, Jackie crashes through the most glass I’ve ever seen. It was like a GCW Death Match! The stunts? Unreal. Like, gravity took a smoke break during production. Jackie Chan basically does things your insurance agent has nightmares about. Watch the post-ctedits for him being silly and getting hurt. A lot.
Now, was the pacing perfect? Not really. There are a few parts where the movie takes a breather, but not in a “let’s develop characters” kind of way—more like a “why are we still in this office scene” kind of way. And the ending? Ehh. It kind of just… stops. Not in a “what a twist!” way, more like someone leaned on the stop button by accident.
But despite all that? I had a blast. It’s chaotic, charming, and the kind of movie that makes you rewind just to ask, “Did he actually do that?!” (Yes. Yes, he did.)
Can’t wait to dive into the next two. Jackie, take the wheel, preferably through a mall window again.
